These NOS Stronglight alloy caps for the 49d crankset will also fit the Stronglight 93 and 99 models, and have a diameter of 33mm. The steel caps with the 5mm hex center were supplied with the 93 and 99 models. This hex center would often become rounded off when removal was attempted later, as most installers and mechs did not grease the dustcap threads, which became more important in this case because of the use of dis-similar metals in cap and crank. Thus the alloy 49d cap, with its slot for a coin or screwdriver blade, became prized as a better choice for replacement of damaged caps from the model 93 and 99 crankarms.
