If you wish more gears without the use of derailleurs and chain tensioners the Schumpf Innovations crank and bottom bracket may be for you, Shown is the 'Mountain Drive' model which provides
a 1:2.5 gear reduction, or direct drive. This reliable unit comes with installation instructions and technical information. The cranks are 170mm long and the spider takes 110mm BCD chainwheels. Note the bottom bracket must be chamfered at 45 degrees with a tool such as the Mavic bottom bracket chamfer tool. Or send your frame to Derby and he will prepare it with the Schumpf tool. Fits English-threaded bottom brackets.
